DTS output produce the ultimate surround sound experience, and
Sony’s exclusive SmoothScan SmoothSlow picture search modes allow
for distortion-free images when searching for specific scenes.
Main Features
Component Video Outputs Provide the highest level of video
signal transfer quality available today when connected to televisions
equipped with compatible inputs. By dividing the video signal
into component elements, component video outputs deliver a remarkable
improvement in picture detail at maximum resolution, with unmatched
color purity and edge detail. Color blooming and "hanging dots"
are eliminated, and other NTSC artifacts are eliminated.
DTS® Compatibility allows the DVD player to pickup and
output DTS (Digital Theater System) 5.1 channel audio signals
for decoding by DTS-decoding receivers. The sound of DTS is three-dimensional
with a wide dynamic range and a minimum of compression artifacts.
Optical & Coaxial Dolby® Digital Outputs connects to Dolby
digital receivers and systems with either optical or coaxial digital
audio inputs, for maximum flexibility in connectivity. Provides
pass through of Dolby Digital signals for decoding in the receiver.
Precision Drive system Sony's second-generation transport
design includes Active Tilt Control, a Dynamic Focus™ system and
an Advanced DSP Servo system for superb tracking of disc imperfections.
Also has High-Speed Stepping Motor for fast track and chapter
access.
Audio Features
96 kHz/24-bit Audio D/A Converter Maximizes DVD and CD
audio performance capability, providing smoother, less digitized
transitions, and richer sonic texture.
Virtual Surround Sound When using the DVD player with only
two front speakers, this technology creates a surround-sound effect
by incorporating a portion of the center-surround information
into the left and right stereo signals.

SmoothScan picture search Uses a 32-bit RISC microprocessor
for superior scan quality in Frame Advance, Slow Motion (at 1/10
and 1/5 speed) and High-Speed Search (at 2X, 10X and 30X speed)
